Windswept Lighthouse Elopement Shirley, BC // Victoria + Riley
You know your clients are going to be a good fit when their inquiry email includes words like artsy, edgy and vibey. Victoria + Riley’s intimate April wedding did not disappoint.
On the windy cliffs of a lighthouse near Sooke, the couple exchanged vows in front of a small group of their closest family and friends - with Victoria’s Papa officiating.
After the ceremony, we were lucky enough to have the lighthouse to ourselves, so we took full advantage of it to capture some stunning portraits. Victoria + Riley are super stylish and chic, and their well-thought-out details - her elegant gown and funky white Doc Martin boots and Riley’s bolo tie - popped against the Wes Anderson-like cinematic backdrop that the lighthouse made. Then we headed to a parkade downtown for more photos…complete with celebratory cigars.
While the ceremony was small, quite a few more guests joined the newlyweds for their reception at the Hudson in downtown Victoria. The unique space lent itself well to the couple's industrial-style wedding day vibes. Following a delicious dinner of tacos (my fave!), we snuck out to grab some additional images in nearby Chinatown. Back at the Hudson, it was time for a number of heartfelt speeches and dessert (donuts! Another fave!), then the couple kicked off the party with their romantic first dance. What made this intimate wedding incredibly special was the feeling of love this couple felt for one another and their friends and family - and the love and support their guests showed to them. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I did making them with this beautiful couple.
